THE BEST PLACES TO DINE IN THE BIG BEND AREA

BIG BEND NATIONAL PARK

Chisos Mountain Lodge Restaurant
Location: In the Basin.
Features: Standard family menu that hasn't improved much; but, they're the only restaurant in the park. The real treat is the view...floor to ceiling windows allow excellent views of the surrounding mountains and the natural Window far below.

STUDY BUTTE & TERLINGUA

La Kiva
Location: between Study Butte and Terlingua, at the creek, on FM-170.
Features: The food is fair, but the atmosphere is the thing. If you've never been to La Kiva, it is a must do on your next visit. Frequent live entertainment, large patio, and of course, the cave. The best place to party in Terlingua.

Starlight Theater
Location: Terlingua Ghost Town, off FM-170.
Features: Very good food, great decor. And what a setting!

ALPINE

Alicia's Burrito Place
Location: 708 E. Ave. 'G'.
Features: Excellent variety of really good breakfast & lunch burritos and burgers, and cheap. My favorites are the Trashcan Breakfast Burrito (it has everything in it) and the KK Burger (a delightful chicken sandwich with a very unique sauce). NOTE: there is limited seating and this is a very popular place among local residents.

Bread and Breakfast Cafe
Location: 113 W. Holland Ave.
Features: Small town cafe setting. Fresh pastries served daily. Breakfast and lunch menu and daily specials. The food is always made fressh and tastes great.

Edelweiss Brewery
Location: 209 W. Holland Ave.
Features: Wonderful German menu and some handsome home-made brews, to boot.

La Casita
Location: 1104 E. Ave. 'H'.
Features: The most popular Tex-Mex restaurant in town. Suggest reservations for dinner. Reasonable prices for tasty dishes, and the portions are grand.

Reata Restaurant
Location: 203 N. 5th St.
Features: Famous for their "cowboy cuisine". Suggest reservations for dinner. Slightly upscale in price and atmosphere, but casual attire is okay.

Shotgun Grill
Location: 2700 W. Hwy 90 (next to the Ramada Inn)
Features: Excellent sit-down Bar-BQ place. Very rustic setting with lots of "real" cowboy and ranch decor. Try the Big Daddy Outlaw stuffed-spud, but only with a big appetite.

FORT DAVIS

Cueva de Leon
Location: On main street in town.
Features: Good selection of tasty Tex-Mex dishes. Large portions at a decent price.

Pop's Grill
Location: Hwy 17 S., approx. one mile from the Courthouse.
Features: Eexcellent selection of food in a very pleasant setting. My favorite is the South of the Border Burger with green chili.
