BIG BEND NATIONAL PARK
CAMPGROUNDS

Rio Grande Village Campground
Location: Southeast section of the park, along the river near Boquillas, MX.
Accommodates: Tents, Campers and RV's
Features: Choose from the large open area shaded by a stand of cottonwood trees or the more secluded back section in a thicket of mesquite. Restrooms located throughout, drinking water close to most sites. There is a grocery store, laundry and showers less than 1/4 mile away. A superb, self-guided trail from the campgrounds offers easy access to the river, a lookout point with grand vistas, and a very unique swamp area. Within short driving distances to the Historic Hot Springs area and the Boquillas river crossing. Busiest from November through May.

The Basin Campground
Location: In the Chisos Mountains Basin

Convenience store and restaurant less than 1/4 mile away. Hiking trail to the Window from the campground. Close to trailheads of the mountain trails of Big Bend. Popular year round.

Cottonwood Campground
Location: Southwest section of the park, along the river near Santa Elena, MX.
Accommodates: Tents, Campers (under 20 ft.) and RV's (under 24 ft.)
Features: Well shaded, open area under a stand of cottonwood trees. Drinking water and portable toilets nearby. Minimal store about a mile away. This more primitive area is the hottest spot in Big Bend during the summer months, and only true diehards camp there from June through September. Close to the tiny border town of Santa Elena, MX. and a short drive from Santa Elena Canyon.

NOTE: the campsites at the above locations are on a first come - first serve basis, with the exception of group sites and approx. half of the sites at Rio Grande Village Campground. For more information, visit the park's web site at http://www.nps.gov/bibe/camping.htm.
