Pride Searcher

We're brought up in a vacuum
That sucks away our years
We live out our precious lives
Trapped by some other man's fears

We live in a state of resignation
As neither man nor beast
But as some unholy horror
In sacrifice to life's feast

We damn our lives, our souls, our beings
Subordinated to another's whim
Searching the stars for a quiding light
Toward a future that seems only dim

Why can't we love, why can't we see
The beauty that is what we are
Why do we squint and squirm
And take our pleasures from afar

Why are we doomed to go through life
Never realizing our secret desires
Why do we accept the laws of men
Who have no sparks, no flames, no fires

Why do we accept the convictions of those
Who have not our love or respect
Why do we live by the morals of men
Who show us only pain and neglect

Why are we made only to suffer
When all we want is to live
When all we truly want from life
Is that in which we give

I do not accept original sin
I do not accept guilt without crime
I do not accept suffering as my standard
I do not repent for this life of mine
